Edits
To create these edits I selected 10 images of the same model to use in each edit, I then printed the images out and put them on top of one another. After this I used a scalpel to cut into the layers one by one, following a specific line each time, I used paper clips to make sure that the pieces of paper did not move into different positions. After this I scanned them into the computer and changed the levels and brightness to get the desired effect for the final, finished image.
For the last edit I decided to combine all of the models in one image. I believe this was effective and helps to represent the theme of identity and also still reflects Iida's work through layering the images and cutting them.
Development Ideas
For my development edits I have decided to try and recreate the layered effect and also the distortion of the facial features digitally and by using circles rather than the lines used in the edits above. I am also going to use the burn effect to add more depth to the image, creating the 3D effect that Iida created in her original images and also to further distort the faces in order to make the images more tense and unnatural looking. The facial features will still be distorted to create the loss of identity associated with mental illness.
